US Soldier Aaron Bushnell Sets Himself On Fire Outside Israel Embassy To Protest Gaza Genocide
A US soldier named Aaron Bushnell stood in front of the Israeli Embassy in Washington, poured gasoline over his body, and set himself on fire in protest against the massacre of civilians in Gaza. He is heard shouting “Free Palestine!” several times before he died.
“I’m about to engage in an extreme act of protest, but compared to what people have been experiencing in Palestine at the hands of their colonizers, it’s not extreme at all. This is what our ruling class has decided will be normal.”
~ Aaron Bushnell, February 25, 2024 RIP
Aaron Bushnell, a 25-year-old US soldier, sets himself on fire outside the Israel embassy in Washington, at 1 pm Sunday, while chanting his last words “Free Palestine - I will no longer be complicit in genocide.”

Bushnell’s Linkedin profile says that he joined the Air Force since 2020, working as a client systems technician in it management and as a DevOps engineer. He was pursuing a Bachelors of Science in software engineering at Southern New Hampshire University. He was also looking for SkillBridge programs to transfer his skills into the software engineering career field. Bushnell, who was wearing fatigues at the time of the incident, was based in San Antonio, Texas.
Before his planned self-immolation, Bushnell reportedly sent a message to media outlets stating, “Today, I am planning to engage in an extreme act of protest against the genocide of the Palestinian people.”
It is also reported that he live-streamed on Twitch, but the video was removed for violating Twitch guidelines.
After dousing himself with liquid and reaching for his lighter, unidentified law enforcement or security officers could be heard asking off-screen, “Can I help you?” After setting himself aflame, a US Secret Service agent pulls a gun on him, yelling at him to get down on the ground, while another Secret Service agent replies, “I don't need guns, I need a fire extinguisher!”
Bushnell also left a message on his Facebook account. He wrote:
“Many of us like to ask ourselves, ‘What would I do if I was alive during slavery? Or the Jim Crow South? Or apartheid? What would I do if my country was committing genocide?' The answer is, you're doing it. Right now.”
The New York Times reported that Bushnell “was taken to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries and remains in critical condition.” He died soon after from his injuries.
The Israeli Twitter outlets were unsurprisingly less than sympathetic:
The mainstream media, as usual, are acting in lockstep, ignoring any mention of keywords that are verboten to the official narrative.
It seems Bushnell was a do-gooder, involved in helping homeless people in San Antonio, Texas, according to those who knew him well:
“He is one of the most principled comrades I’ve ever known,” said Xylem, who worked with Bushnell to support San Antonio’s unhoused residents. “He’s always trying to think about how we can actually achieve liberation for all with a smile on his face,” said Errico.
It is tragic that a young man would go to such drastic lengths, and take his own life, in order to protest the criminal complicity of his own government. This is the first time in American history that an active US soldier has ended his life by self-immolation.
Meanwhile, the death toll from Israel’s unrelenting carpet bombing of Gaza continues unabated. There is no reason to believe that Israel will cease until Gaza is bombed and bulldozed to the ground, and the 2 million Palestinians are dead or evicted.

Utterly disturbing. What was going through the mind of the US Secret Service agent with his gun drawn, yelling at Aaron Bushnell to get on the ground?
