*** Sorry we have been inactive on FreePolitik. I’m trying to finish a book I’ve been working on for a year called FreePolitik. This blog is named after the book, and it’s all part of the ongoing research project we’ve been working on, attempting to understand the geopolitics of the world. And more importantly, how it relates to our struggle for freedom. The book will be out very soon. Stayed tuned. In the meantime, this is incredible what is happening in the wee hours of the morning in Russia. ***
Wagner PMC, led by Prigozhin is staging a coup in the early hours of the morning in Russia. Troops, tanks and armoured vehicles have descended on Rostov-on-Don, a city 1100 kilometres south of Moscow at approximately 2 a.m. Russian time.
Wagner PMC has taken the Defence Ministry headquarters for the Southern Military District in Rostov-on-Don. Prigozhin is now planning his next move to Voronezh on the way to Moscow.
Wagner troops engaged the Kremlin forces, and a Russian helicopter is reportedly shot down, killing the pilot.
In a recent tirade, Wagner commander, Yevgeny Prigozhin accused the Russian military of “missile strikes on the rear camps” of the Wagner PMC, as a result of which “a huge number of fighters” of the military company died.
Prigozhin continued in a video appeal on Wagner’s Telegram channel:
“The evil that the military leadership of the country bears must be stopped! They neglect the lives of soldiers, they forgot the word ‘justice’ … Those who destroyed our guys and the lives of many tens of thousands of Russian soldiers will be punished. I ask you not to resist [Wagner]. Those who attempt to resist will be perceived as a threat. All roadblocks, all aircraft above our heads. I ask you to stay in your homes along the route of our route, do not go out into the street. After we finish what we started, we will return to the front to defend our Motherland. The presidential power and law enforcement agencies will continue to work in the usual manner. We will deal with those who destroy Russian soldiers and then return to the front.”
According to Russian media outlet, TASS: Kremlin spokesperson, “Peskov reported, that the Ministry of Defense, the FSB, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and the Federal Guard report to Putin around the clock on measures taken after instructions by the head of state in connection with an attempt at an armed rebellion.”
Some of the Russian military have allegedly switched sides:
Russian intelligence official, Lt. Gen. Vladimir Alekseev, posted a video about Prigozhin’s actions that day, describing it as a coup attempt: “Only the president has the right to appoint the top leadership of the armed forces, and you are trying to encroach on his authority. This is a coup d’etat. There is no need to do this now, because there is no greater damage to the image of Russia and to its armed forces.”
So what the heck is going on? Some in the alternative media are already screaming “Psyops!” There is the theory that the entire Ukraine War a.k.a. Special Military Operation is another massive scam to help usher in the Great Reset. We cannot discount this theory, especially after three years of Covid insanity.
An interesting comment from Prigozhin’s rant from a couple months ago when he claimed “the Russian elites are holding secret talks with the Western elites.”
What were they talking about in these secret meetings? We can only speculate, but the thought occurs to me that Prigozhin has suddenly figured out that he has been royalty used and abused by the Kremlin. The Special Military Ops is not really special, but maybe it is an operation, in the true meaning of the word.
Inside Moscow, the city has cordoned off the Kremlin and security is tight. The Kremlin has issued a warrant for Prigozhin’s arrest.
According to commentators, like Scott Ritter, who keeps kicking the can down the road, the war was supposed to last a couple weeks. Where have we heard that before? Two weeks to flatten Ukraine sounds a whole lot like two weeks to flatten the curve.
All the Moscow had to do was hit Kyiv with a few strategically placed missiles, targeting the government, media, military headquarters and Zelensky’s cabinet. End of war. But instead, the Russian forces went on a meandering, attack-and-retreat game, allowing the Ukrainian forces to continually resupply and regroup.
Prigozhin claimed in his Telegram messages that Russian forces hit a Wagner military camp and killed “a huge amount” of his fighters. Prigozhin also claimed that Wagner field camps were struck by rockets, helicopter gunships and artillery fire on orders from the chief of the military's General Staff, General Valery Gerasimov. He accused Gerasimov issued the order after a meeting with Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, at which they decided to destroy Wagner.
This morning, 7:30 a.m., Russian time, (10:30 p.m. PST), Prigozhin posted an update from Rostov, where he claimed the casualties are 10 times greater than what the Kremlin reported to the media. “Huge territories have been lost.” He further claimed that “Total casualties were up to 1000 people on some days. These are killed, missing, wounded and the so-called refuseniks, who refuse not because they’re cowardly, but as I’ve said before, because they have no choice! No munitions. No command.”
Things are unfolding very quickly. The Russian elites may have underestimated Prigozhin. Stay tuned.
